ICBEM JNC Special Issue Notice
Dear Colleagues,

Manuscripts are still accepted for the special issue of Journal of Neuroscience Research that will contain manuscripts from the 9th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism, held in Budapest.

Please be sure to check the instructions for submission on the journal web site. The link to the JNR web site is:
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/34828/home . Guidelines to authors and instructions for submission can be found on this website.

Please be sure to indicate that the manuscript is for a special issue, and select either Mary McKenna, Arne Schousboe or Helle Waagepetersen as handling editor.

Welcome

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the Portal of the 9th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism. Our content and services will grow in time as preparation for the meeting will proceed. So, please visit back regularly. Let us know if we can be of any assistance to you.

Invitation

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 9th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism entitled, "Mitochondrial-Cytosolic Interactions: From Energetics to Pathogenesis", which will be held in Budapest, Hungary on July 7-10, 2010.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading experts and emerging young scientists interested in several aspects of brain energy metabolism. Lectures and discussions will cover latest developments in research related to cytosolic-mitochondrial interactions, oxidative stress, mitochondrial mechanisms, modulation and disturbances of brain energy metabolism.

Traditionally, these meetings provide a forum for very lively and informative discussions after the talks and during free time and poster sessions. Student and fellow participation is strongly encouraged, and I hope that travel awards for a limited number of young scientists will be available.

The conference will be held in the brand new building of Basic Medical Science Center of Semmelweis University. Participants can be accommodated in near-by hotels located within two-three blocks from the meeting venue.

Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to participate in the Brain Energy Metabolism meeting. Any participants who have special needs are requested to make their requirements known to the organizers so that every effort can be made to address these needs. In addition, scientists from any discipline who have an interest in the topics in the meeting program are also encouraged to attend so that the scientific discussions and interactions will be broadly inclusive of interests within, among, and outside of the topics of the meeting.

Budapest is a beautiful and historic city in the heart of Europe. I encourage the participants of this conference to come before or stay after the conference and spend a memorable holiday in this wonderful city.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Budapest in July, 2010

Vera Adam-Vizi
On behalf of the Organizers
